Committees

The Graduate Students’ Association (GSA) is also in the process of establishing committees focused on a range of areas that matter to our graduate student community. Committee meetings are open to all GSA members, and we encourage you to attend, participate, share your perspectives, or simply observe and learn more about the work being done on your behalf.

Food Security Committee

Food insecurity is a challenge faced by many graduate students across British Columbia. As we all are establishing the GSA as an organization together, the question of what graduate students’ access to food and food security measures will look like in the future is of high importance. There are no easy answers to this question, and that’s why we encourage you to join the Food Security Committee. You got ideas, suggestions, connections? Let’s get together and build this network of support for each and every student.

Advocacy Committee

From tuition increases, to graduate student housing, food security initiatives and Master’s minimum funding: there are many issues of importance to graduate students, and the GSA as our union has the goal of advocating on behalf of all our members. If you are interested in furthering graduate students’ interests at UBCO and beyond, join the Advocacy Committee. Together, we will draft and implement advocacy strategies, offer training opportunities and workshops to members, and work towards representing graduate students on all levels of governance – on and off campus!
